Late Goal Lifts USM over UMF

Box Score

FARMINGTON, Maine – University of Maine at Farmington men's soccer (2-6) put up a great fight despite giving up a late second half goal to Southern Maine (2-5-3) in a non conference match-up at Leib Field.

Southern Maine's Justin Pierce scored the games only goal on a header in the 83rd minute. Christopher Pepin and Kyle Curley were credited with the assist on the game winner.

Keeper Ronie Morales (Houston,Texas/George W. Hewlett) had a solid game in goal saving two shots before the eventual winner.  USM keeper Simon Hulbert saved both shots he faced to record the win.

Jon Randolph (Buckfield, Maine/Buckfield) had the best opportunity early in the second half to put the Beavers on the board.

The Beavers posted 8 shots, 2 on target. Southern Maine had 21 shots, 3 on target.

UMaine-Farmington returns to conference action on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Thomas College.
