Beavers Battle to Final Seconds Against the Mariners

Farmington, Maine – Dearborn Gymnasium hosted a thriller on Saturday afternoon as the UMaine-Farmington Beavers battled the Maine Maritime Academy Mariners. The game went back and forth with both teams giving it their all. However, the Beavers fell just short and the Mariners ended up with the win, 53-50.

In the Box

  • McKenna Brodeur and Alex Bessey had 13 points each to lead the Beavers offense. Brodeur notched her fourth double-double of the year with 10 rebounds, while Bessey finished with four rebounds and two steals.
  • Molly Folsom followed with eight points of her own, shooting 1-4 from the field and a perfect 6-6 from the free-throw line. Folsom also battled on the boards all game with seven rebounds.
  • Tia Day finished with seven points for the Beavers, going 2-7 from the field and 1-5 from three-point range. Day filled up the box sheet as well with three rebounds, one assist, and one steal.
  • Samantha Mason was the high point scorer for the Mariners with 13 points, shooting 5-9 from the floor and 2-2 from three-point range. Lauren Plissey had a double-double of her own, scoring 12 and grabbing 11 rebounds.

 Up Next

The Beavers will head out on the road next weekend to New York, where they will play back to back road games versus the SUNY Canton Roos. The first game is scheduled to tip-off at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, February 7th.
