Box Score

COBLESKILL, New York – Back-to-back goals from Yusuf Mohamed allowed the University of Maine at Farmington men's soccer team to rally for a 2-1 victory over North Atlantic Conference rival SUNY Cobleskill, Saturday afternoon at the Fighting Tiger Complex.

UMaine-Farmington improved its overall record to 5-1-0, 2-1-0 in the NAC, with the victory, giving the Beavers their best start since the 2001 campaign, when UMF opened with six straight victories before taking its first loss.

SUNY Cobleskill (1-6-0, 0-2-0 NAC) got on the scoreboard first thanks to Tanner Reisman's goal in the 14th minute, with an assist coming from Jeremy Rossi.

The Fighting Tigers held their advantage into the 37th minute, when Mohamed knotted the game at 1-1. Cassidy Pound was credited with an assist on the first UMaine-Farmington goal.

The contest remained deadlocked into the 57th minute, when Mohamed struck for a second time – this time with an unassisted score for his fifth goal of the season.

UMaine-Farmington had a commanding 17-11 advantage in total shots, including 12 shots on goal to SUNY Cobleskill's five. The Beavers also took seven corner kicks while the Fighting Tigers had just one set piece from the corner flag.

Jonah Sautter finished the day with four saves.

UMaine-Farmington men's soccer concludes its two-game New York conference road swing on Sunday, Sept. 26, when it faces SUNY Delhi in a 1:30 p.m. start.
