NEWRY, Maine – Both the University of Maine at Farmington men's and women's Alpine teams finished third in Saturday's USCSA Reynolds Division giant slalom event held at Sunday River Resort.
In the women's GS event, Tegan Andrew finished 11th with a combined time of 1:48.20, including a 50.78 in her first run. Madeline Ten Kate was 16th overall with a 1:52.96 over her two runs, and Jocelyn Stevens was 18th with a combined time of 1:53.24.
Abigail Landry clocked a 48.12 in her first run down the mountain, but did not complete her second run.
St. Joseph's College of Maine won the women's GS event, with the team from UMaine placing third.
On the men's side, Simon Spear was third overall with a combined time of 1:26.25, paced by his time of 41.75 in his first run. Colgan O'Keefe was eighth overall with a combined time of 1:30.34, and Christian Beliveau was 10th with a combined time of 1:32.04.
St. Joseph's College of Maine took the top spot in the men's GS competition, with UMaine again finishing second. Bowdoin College trailed UMaine-Farmington in fourth.
Also competing on Saturday was junior Mullein Francis with the women's Nordic team in the Castleton Invitational 10k Skate at the Gore Mountain Nordic Center. Francis finished 29th overall with a time of 50:08.0.
Francis will compete in a 13K Classic Nordic race on Sunday, Jan. 23, at the Castleton Invitational, while the men's and women's Alpine teams will head to Lost Valley ski area on Sunday to compete in a pair of Reynolds Division slalom events.
