TURNER, Maine – The University of Maine at Farmington men's and women's Alpine teams each took to the hill for a pair of USCSA Reynolds Division slalom races at Lost Valley ski area on Sunday.
In Sunday's early race, the UMaine-Farmington men's team finished second behind St. Joseph's College of Maine.
Simon Spear placed second overall with a combined time of 59.20, including a 29.41 in his second run. Christian Beliveau charted a 1:03.41 combined time and finished sixth overall, while Nick Quast was 10th overall with a 1:06.60.
Times for the women's skiers in the day's first race were not available.
The day wrapped up with a second race, with Quast turning in the top performance of the event with a combined time of 1:06.23, good enough for sixth place. Nathan Rackliff was the second-fastest UMF skier of race two, posting a combined time of 1:18.06 on his way to a 17th place finish. Christie Hayden was 18th overall with a combined time of 1:24.55, and was the Beavers' third-fastest competitor of race two.
In the second race for the women's team, Ten Kate finished 11th overall with a combined time of 1:26.08. She was the only UMaine-Farmington women's skier to complete two trips down the hill.
UMaine-Farmington's Alpine season continues on Sunday, Jan. 30, with a pair of Reynolds Division giant slalom races at Shawnee Peak in Bridgton, Maine.
