Beavers Cold Shooting Leads to Loss at UMA

AUGUSTA, Maine - The University of Maine at Farmington women's basketball team fell on the road on Wednesday evening to the University of Maine at Augusta, 71-45. The Beavers struggled from the field, only connecting on 22.4% (15-67) of their shots and 12% (3-25) from the three-point line.

In the first quarter, both teams really struggled from the field as the Beavers shot 2-16. The Moose only connected on 5-22 from the floor but jumped out to an 11-5 lead.

After a Jacqui Hamilton (Gorham, Maine) three, the Beavers cut the deficit to three at 14-11. The Moose then erupted on a 13-0 run led by a trio of threes from Alisyn Alley, Desirae Dumais, and Sydney Farrar. Kaeti Butterfield capped off the run, hitting four straight free throws. 

Trailing 32-18 going into the third quarter, the Beavers could not get going offensively enough to cut into the Moose lead. The Beavers trailed 53-31 after the third quarter.

The Moose stretched their lead to 33 before the Beavers closed on a 9-2 run.

Rosalie White (Lisbon, Maine) was the high scorer today for the Beavers, totaling 11 points and five rebounds off the bench. Grace Dwyer (Manchester, Maine) pitched in with five points, nine rebounds, and six assists for the Beavers. Ruby McMinins (Wells, Maine) added seven points off the bench. Jaycie Stevens (Pittston, Maine), Hamilton, and Victoria Garand (Portland, Maine) each chipped in with six points.

For the Moose, they were led by the trio of Dumais, Alley, and Butterfield. Dumais scored a game 16, Alley added 15, and Butterfield 14. Dumais recorded a double-double, adding 10 rebounds.

The Beavers will host Maine Maritime Academy on Saturday, December 10th at 1 pm in a North Atlantic Conference contest in Dearborn Gymnasium.
