NEWRY, Maine – The University of Maine at Farmington men's and women's alpine teams faced their familiar USCSA Reynolds Division rivals in a slalom event at Sunday River resort on Saturday, with the men's team placing three skiers among the top five and the women's team placing three among the top six.
In the team competition, the UMaine-Farmington men's team took first-place honors while the women's team finished second.
In the men's race, Simon Spear took second place with a combined time of 1:12.44, including a 35.22 in his second run.
Jacob Roy was fourth overall with a combined time of 1:13.70, while Zach Berliner finished fifth with a combined time of 1:14.15.

All other UMaine-Farmington men's skiers only finished one run on the day.
In the women's Alpine event, Abigail Landry was fourth overall with a combined time of 1:30.14, while Fallon Smith finished not far behind with a combined time of 1:31.22, good enough for fifth. Paloma Shelton was sixth overall with a combined time of 1:33.55.
