Box Score PLYMOUTH, New Hampshire - The Beavers began their season with a 6-0 defeat on the road at the hands of the Plymouth State Panthers in a non-conference contest Saturday afternoon. The game did not go the way the Beavers had wanted as they got out shot 37-3 in the contest, including a 18-1 deficit in shots on goal, and 12-0 deficit in corner kicks.
The Panthers were led offensively by junior forward Ashley Plante who registered two goals on three shots. The Panthers also got offensive contributions from Emily Haik, Kaliana Palhof, Cara Easter, and Molly Bellmore who each registered goals.
For the Beavers, they were unable to find their offensive rhythm as they were only able to muster one shot on frame in the contest. Freshman goalkeeper Paige Gonya made 12 saves in her first collegiate game.
The two teams played on opening weekend a year ago at Leib Field in Farmington in a game in which the Panthers won 1-0.
The Beavers won't have to wait long before they look to bounce back, as tomorrow morning they travel to Norwich University to take on the Cadets in an 11 AM contest.
