Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Beavers Take Down Hornets, Win 4th Straight

FARMINGTON, Maine - The University of Maine at Farmington men's basketball team took care of business at home on Tuesday evening beating Northern Vermont-Lyndon 100-78 to improve to 8-4 on the season and remain a perfect 4-0 in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play. The Hornets drop to 2-11 on the season and 0-3 in the conference.

The two teams battled, exchanging six lead changes in the first 13 minutes of the game. With the game tied 30-30 with seven minutes to play in the first half, the Beavers would go on a quick 7-0 spurt over the next 1:20 and finish out the half on a 15-5 run, taking a 10-point lead into halftime.

In the first half, the Beavers were able to withstand tough shot making from Hornet junior Mondwell Bukle who hit three three-pointers to help keep the Hornets within striking distance. The Beavers three-headed monster of Terion Moss (Portland, Maine), Jack Kane (Cumberland, Maine), and Kyle Donlin (Warren, Maine) scored 34 of the Beavers 45 1st half points.

The Hornets stood tough in the second half. Every time the Beavers began to create some distance from the visitors, they would hit a big shot to stay within reach.

The Beavers held onto an 18-point lead and looked to be in complete control with 9:42 to go in the game following Moss layup. However, the Hornets responded with a 10-0 run to cut the lead to just eight with eight minutes still to play.

Three layups, one from Moss, one from Donlin, and a massive energy-lifting and-one from Silas Mohlar (Readfield, Maine) helped the Beavers regain a 15-point lead and all but seal the victory for the Beavers.

Moss scored a game-high 27 points on 10-19 shooting, adding four rebounds, four assists, and six steals. Kane scored a season-high 22 points on 10-12 shooting, adding six rebounds and three blocks. Donlin pitched in with a double-double notching 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Bukle scored 17 points to pace the Hornets who also got 13 points apiece from Antonio Carlisle and David Gonyea Jr.

The Beavers shot 54.2% (39-72) from the field, 41.7% (10-24) from deep, and 80% (12-15) from the free throw line. The Hornets shot 42% (29-69) from the field, 31.4% (11-35) from three, and 75% (9-12) from the charity stripe.
