PRESQUE ISLE, Maine - The University of Maine at Farmington women's cross country team raced to a 3rd place finish this morning at the North Atlantic Conference Championship hosted by the University of Maine at Presque Isle.
The Beavers were led on the course by rookie Joy Evans (Farmington, Maine) who placed 4th overall. Evans finished with a time of 25:16.5 and an average mile time of 6:47.2. With the 4th place finish Evans was named to the NAC 1st Team All-Conference.
The 2nd Beavers across the finish line was junior Anna MacDonald (Bangor, Maine) who placed 15th overall to capture 2nd Team All-Conference honors. MacDonald raced to a time of 28:09.7 and an average mile split of 7:33.2.
Sophomore Eve Poteet (Fairhill, Maryland) narrowly missed placing in the top-15, finishing in 17th place overall, just 12 seconds behind MacDonald. Poteet finished with a time of 28:21.6 and an average mile time of 7:36.4.
First-year Abby MacDonald (Bangor, Maine) had a strong day on the course as well, finishing the 6k with a time of 29:50.4 and an average mile split of 8:00.2. MacDonald finished in 22nd place overall.
Senior Sarah Chapin (Readfield, Maine) finished inside the top-30, placing in 29th overall. Chapin raced to a time of 31:32.6 with an average mile time of 8:27.6.
As a team, Evans, Anna and Abby MacDonald, Poteet, and Chapin raced to an average 6k time of 28:38 with a total time of 2:23.12, just .57 behind 2nd place SUNY Cobleskill.
Husson University repeated as NAC Champions with three Eagles inside the top-eight to help them amass 37 points.
