CARRABASSETT VALLEY, Maine - The University of Maine at Farmington men's and women's alpine teams each took 1st place in the final Reynolds Division event of the season today. Today's event was a giant slalom event held at Sugarloaf. The men swept the podium with the top three finishers on the day and six place points. On the women's side they had two of the top three finishers for eight place points.
Women's Highlights
Lauren Kessen (Sussex, Wisc.) took 1st place with a two run time of 1:57.23. She finished her 1st run with the fastest run time of the day in 57.37 seconds. She finished out her second run in 59.86 seconds to close out the victory.
Grace Mahmood (Oxford, Conn.) joined Kessen on the podium with a 3rd place finish in a cumulative two-run time of 2:01.04. In her 1st run, Mahmood had the 2nd fastest run finishing in 58.51 seconds. She finished her second run in 1:02.53 to finish in 3rd place overall.
Fallon Smith (Nelson, N.H.) was the 3rd Beaver skier to contribute to their team time. Smith came in 9th place overall, but from a team scoring perspective, her points counted as the 5ht place finisher. She finished her two runs with a cumulative time of 2:08.75.
Kessen, Mahmood, and Smith finished with a three-skier cumulative time of 6:07.02, exactly 11 seconds faster than the 2nd place Monks of Saint Joseph's College.
Men's Highlights
Jacob Roy (Frenchville, Maine) took home 1st place finishing with a two-run time of 1:47.23. Roy's 1st run was the quickest of the day, finishing in 53.00 seconds. Roy's 2nd run was also the fastest of all skiers in the 2nd run with a time of 54.23 seconds.
Jacob Roy's brother, Sam Roy (Frenchville, Maine) came in 2nd place with a two-run time of 1:48.26. Roy finished his 1st run in 53.93 seconds and sat in 3rd place. Roy then finished his 2nd run with in 54.33 seconds to jump up and finish in 2nd place overall.
Lake Lindelof (Belfast, Maine) joined the Roy brothers on the podium, finishing in 3rd place. Lindelof finished with a two-run cumulative time of 1:49.15. He finished his 1st run in 54.07 seconds before backing it up with a 2nd run time of 55.08 seconds.
Simon Spear (Boothbay, Maine) finished in 4th place with a 1:50.64 time. Spear finished his 1st run in 54.92 seconds. He finished his 2nd run in 55.72 seconds.
The Roy brothers and Lindelof finished with a three-skier cumulative time of 5:24.64, 14.5 seconds ahead of the 2nd place Monks.

The Beavers will return to Sugarloaf next weekend for the USCSA Eastern Regional Championships. Saturday will be the giant slalom with slalom to follow on Sunday.
