Beavers Drop NAC Opener to Husson

BANGOR, Maine - The University of Maine at Farmington women's lacrosse team opened up North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play on Saturday afternoon against Husson University. The game was originally scheduled to be played in Farmington but was moved up to Bangor due to the snow still being on the field in Farmington. The Eagles took the lead early and finished off with a 15-2 victory.

Averi Baker got the Eagles going early scoring the opening goal just 56 seconds into the contest. Baker added a pair of goals in the 1st quarter, tallying a hat-trick in the first 15 minutes of the game. Maddy Benoit added a goal in the 1st quarter as well to help give Husson a 4-0 lead after one quarter.

Ruby McMinis (Wells, Maine) opened the scoring in the 2nd quarter finding the back of the net for the 7th time this season off an assist from Abby Trefsger (South Portland, Maine). Devyn Veits tallied a pair of goals a minute apart to give the Eagles a 6-1 lead heading into halftime.

In the 3rd quarter, the Eagles tallied the first three goals before Emma Bourget (Gardiner, Maine) tallied her 6th goal of the season off a feed from McMinis.

The Eagles scored the final six goals of the game.

Trefsger, Emma Marsh (Bethany, Conn.), and Emily Stinson (Alfred, Maine) each recorded four ground balls for the Beavers. Kate Nowell (York, Maine) recorded 11 saves in goal for Farmington.

Baker, Natalie Whitten, and Laela Martinez each recorded hat-tricks to lead the Eagles. Whitten also dished out three assists in the game. Eagles goalie, Emma Begin, recorded 10 saves.
