Beavers Edge Monks on Day 1 at Pleasant Mountain

BRIDGTON, Maine - The University of Maine at Farmington men's alpine team squeaked out a narrow victory in Friday afternoon's slalom event held at Pleasant Mountain. The Beavers top three finishers finished by a cumulative time of just .02 seconds to earn the team victory.

Colgan O'Keefe (Westchester, N.Y) earned his first podium of the season, placing 2nd individually after posting two excellent runs. O'Keefe's first run was clocked at 40.84 seconds, the 2nd fastest of any skier. His second run came in at 40.46 seconds, once again the 2nd fastest of any finisher. O'Keefe's two times combined for a time of 1:21.30.

Chase Raven (Hudson, Wisc.) registered his first collegiate podium, placing 3rd overall to snaag the bronze medal. Hudson posted a cumulative time of 1:22.14 with a time of 41.19 seconds in his first run and a 40.95 second run on his second attempt.

Lance Dolan (Coplin Plantation, Maine) was the third Beaver to contribute to their team score. Dolan posted a pair of almost identical runs. Dolan finished his first run in 41.48 seconds. He finished his second run in a time of 41.28 seconds for a cumulative time of 1:22.76.

Sam McKee (Wayne, Maine) and Lake Lindelof (Belfast, Maine) each placed in the top-ten but did not contribute to the team's 1st place time. McKee registered the 9th fastest run in his first attempt at 41.68 seconds. He followed that run up with a 41.45 second run for a cumulative time of 1:23.13. Lindelof finished just a tenth of a second behind McKee with a combined time of 1:23.23. He posted a time of 41.10 in the first run and sat in 3rd place. His second run was clocked at 42.13 seconds.

Liam Strobeck of St. Joseph's College claimed the gold medal after posting a two-run time of 1:20.84.

The Beavers return to the hill tomorrow morning for the giant slalom portion of the two-day event at Pleasant Mountain.
