Farmington Blows Past Lyndon, 89-58

LYNDONVILLE, Vermont - The University of Maine at Farmington men's basketball team had seven players score nine or more points as the Beavers took down Vermont State University-Lyndon on Friday evening in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) contest.

After a back and forth battle in the opening minutes, a Simon Chadbourne (Portland, Maine) three in transition gave the Beavers a 13-11 lead, a lead that they did not relinquish.

Clinging to a seven-point lead with 3:16 left to play in the opening half, The Beavers closed the half on an 8-0 run to open up a 15-point lead heading into halftime. Cole Banks (Chelsea, Vermont), who made his first collegiate start, and Ethan Forrester (Colorado Springs, Colo.) each hit threes to spark the half-closing run for the Beavers.

After the Beavers held the Hornets to just 25.71% (9-35) from the field in the opening half, Lyndon shot 41.94% (13-31) in the 2nd half. But it was too late for the Hornets. The Beavers poured it on in the 2nd half, shooting 55.56% (20-36) from the field in the half, knocking down 6-10 from downtown in the half. From the 12:30 mark in the 2nd half on, the Beavers led by 20 or more.

Farmington got contributions up and down the lineup all night. Jordan Anthony (Farmington, Conn.) scored a team-high 16 points on an ultra-efficient 8-11 from the field. Anthony also grabbed eight rebounds and dished out five assists. Forrester chipped in with 15 points off the bench. Dylan Griffin (Saco, Maine) stuffed the statsheet once again, finishing with 12 points, nine rebounds, six assists, and three steals. Banks scored a career-high 12 points, knocking down four threes. Zachary Mickle (Billerica, Mass.) finished with ten points while Chadbourne and Jason Reynolds (Winslow, Maine) each totaled nine points. Chadbourne snared eight boards while Reynolds posted nine rebounds of his own.
