BANGOR, Maine - The Husson University women's soccer team scored seven goals in the second half en route to a 10-2 win over the University of Maine at Farmington in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) battle on Friday evening.
The Records:
The Beavers suffered their second conference loss of the season, dropping to 3-5-2 overall and 1-2-2 in NAC play. Husson improved to 5-5-0 and remains unbeaten at 4-0-0 in conference play.
How It Happened:
The Beavers jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 16th minute as
Makenzie Rushlow (Corinth, Maine) scored her first collegiate goal.
Rita Benoit (Hallowell, Maine) sent a long throw-in over the Eagles' defense into the penalty area, where Rushlow was able to run on and slide a shot past Madison Weigler.
The Eagles responded with three goals in a minute and a half to take a 3-1 lead. Kate Harriman scored two goals, while Mackenzie Lambert added one for Husson.
Leading 3-1 to start the second half, Hailey Tarbox one-timed a loose ball off the inside of the post and into the back of the net to extend the lead to 4-1.
The Beavers answered back as senior forward
Abby Lash (Waldoboro, Maine) notched her third goal of the season. A turnover from Weigler found the foot of Lash, who ripped an outside-the-foot volley into the net past the diving Weigler, making it a 4-2 game with 34 minutes to play.
Lash's goal ignited an offensive outburst from Husson, as they scored six goals in the final 29 minutes to secure the victory. Harriman completed her hat trick, while Olivia Charles, Addi Laslie, and Tarbox each added a goal. Natalie Aviolla scored two during this stretch for Husson.
Team Stats:
The Eagles held a significant advantage in shots (33-5) and shots on goal (20-3). Husson also led in corner kicks, 4-2.

Junior goalkeeper
Paige Gonya (Sabattus, Maine) faced immense pressure throughout the game and ended with ten saves. Weigler made one save to earn the victory.
