Castaldo Earns First USTFCCCA All-Region Honors in Program History

FARMINGTON, Maine - The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the recipients of the 2024 NCAA Division III Cross Country All-Region teams and University of Maine at Farmington senior Justin Castaldo (Scarborough, Maine) became the first runner in program history to receive the honor.

Athletes earned All-Region distinction by virtue of a top-35 finish at one of the ten regional sites this past weekend. Only athletes from USTFCCCA member institutions are eligible for awards.

Castaldo completed his historic season in dramatic fashion, earning 35th place overall at the NCAA Division III East Regional Championship to earn the prestigious All-Region honor. Castaldo beat out Seamus McDonough of Bowdoin College by just .12 seconds. Castaldo raced to a time of 25:54.88, a new personal best time, as well as the best 8K time in program history, topping Osman Doorow's time from 2018 by nearly five seconds.

Castaldo finished off his cross country career as a two-time North Atlantic Conference (NAC) champion, both individually and as a team, as well as a two-time NAC Runner of the Year award winner. Now, adding the East All-Region honor to his resumé, Castaldo will graduate as the most decorated cross country runner in program history.
