CARRABASSETT VALLEY, Maine - The University of Maine at Farmington men's alpine team finished 6th overall as a team in today's giant slalom event at the USCSA Eastern Regional Championship at Sugarloaf. The top three Beavers' finishers accumulated a combined time of 5:22.92 in their 6th place effort.
Jacob Roy (Frenchville, Maine) posted a pair of impressive runs, placing 11th individually. Roy finished his first run with a time of 52.91, the sixth-fastest time of any skier. Roy's second run came in at 51.89 seconds to post a cumulative time of 1:44.80, four seconds behind Raphael Fischer of Castleton who placed first.
Sam Roy (Frenchville, Maine) finished inside the top-20 as well, securing 19th place with a two-run time of 1:48.10. Roy was ultra-consistent with his runs. His first run came in at 54.91 seconds, the 19th fastest time. His second run came in at 53.19 seconds, the 20th fastest of any skier on the course.
Colgan O'Keefe (Westchester, N.Y.) was the third Beaver to contribute to the team's cumulative time, finishing in 24th place with a pair of respectable runs. O'Keefe's first run was clocked at 55.61 seconds, and his second run came in at 54.41, resulting in a two-run time of 1:50.02.
Lance Dolan (Coplin Plantation, Maine) did not figure into the Beavers' team time but had a strong performance at today's giant slalom event. Dolan placed just behind O'Keefe in 27th place with a time of 1:50.41. Dolan's first run came in at 56.24 seconds, and he finished his second run in 54.17 seconds.
Lake Lindelof (Belfast, Maine) registered a DNF on his first run.
Castleton sits in 1st place after today's event. Babson sits in 2nd place, St. Joe's is in 3rd, with Clarkson in 4th, and UMass Amherst in 5th.

The Beavers return to Sugarloaf tomorrow for the slalom portion of the Regional Championship. The top six men's teams will qualify for the National Championship.
