Lindelof Takes Gold and Sam Roy Grabs Bronze to Lead Beavers to 1st Place at Mittersill

FRANCONIA, N.H. - Sophomores Lake Lindelof (Belfast, Maine) and Sam Roy (Frenchville, Maine) both secured spots on the podium to lead the Beavers to a 1st place finish in today's giant slalom event at Mittersill Alpine Resort.

Lindelof grabbed 1st place, posting a two-run time of 1:23.77. Lindelof finished his first run with a time of 40.96 seconds and sat in 2nd place. Lindelof doubled down with the fastest second run of any skier, finishing in 42.81 seconds. 

Roy secured the bronze medal after his two runs combined for a time of 1:24.71, just half a second behind William Strobeck of St. Joseph's. Roy's 1st run was clocked at 41.43 seconds and sat in 4th place. Roy's second run came in at 43.28 seconds, the 3rd fastest run of any skier. 

Lance Dolan (Coplin Plantation, Maine) placed 6th overall with a two-run time of 1:27.11 and was the third scoring Beaver. Dolan posted a time of 42.77 seconds in the first run and 44.34 seconds in his second run. 

The trio of Lindelof, Roy, and Dolan combined for a time of 4:15.59 to squeak out the victory over the Monks who turned in a time of 4:17.41. 

Declan Varnerin (Stow, Mass.) also finished inside the top-ten but did not contribute towards the team's score. Varnerin finished just .2 seconds behind Dolan, turning in a time of 1:27.31.

The Beavers head to Lost Valley on Saturday morning for a slalom event.
