WESTON, Mass. - Regis College jumped out to an early lead and then mounted a significant run to pull away with a 16-3 victory over the University of Maine at Farmington women's lacrosse team in a non-conference battle on Thursday afternoon.

Hope Alto and Kylee Marley each found the back of the net in the opening minutes of the game as the Pride jumped out to an early 2-0 lead. Madeline Conover tallied an assist on Alto's marker.

Junior midfielder Abby Trefsger (South Portland, Maine) cut the Beavers deficit in half when she took advantage of an extra-man opportunity, scoring on a free-position shot with 5:32 left in the opening period.

After the Beavers were able to cut the deficit to just one, the Pride responded in a big way, scoring 11 straight goals to open up a 13-1 lead after three quarters. Alto scored her 20th and 21st goals of the season in the closing moments of the 1st quarter to record the hat-trick and give the Pride a 4-1 lead after one quarter.

A pair of goals from Marley and a goal from Melinda Carbone in the 3rd quarter helped the Pride's lead mount to 13-1.

Ruby McMinis (Wells, Maine) scored a man-up goal to open the 4th quarter and Emilie Crocker (Edgecomb, Maine) added her 4th goal of the season but the Beavers were unable to keep pace with the Pride, suffering their second loss of the season and dropping to 2-2.
