University of Maine at Farmington Recognize Athletic and Academic Excellence at 2024 Beaver Social

FARMINGTON, Maine - On Sunday, April 21st, the University of Maine at Farmington Department of Athletics had the distinguished opportunity to recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of their student-athletes both on and off the field of competition during the 2023-2024 academic year at the 20th annual Beaver Social in the Olsen Student Center's South Dining Hall.

Every year the Department of Athletics hands out major awards to the Male and Female Athlete of the Year, the Male and Female recipient of the Julie A. Davis Beaver Pride Award, the Male and Female Senior-Scholar Athlete of the Year, and the Male and Female team representatives of the President's Cup.

The Julie A. Davis Beaver Pride Award is given annually to a male and female student-athlete who embodies sportsmanship, school spirit, the drive for excellence, and most importantly Beaver pride. These athletes are role models for the UMF community and make good choices. This award is voted on by student-athletes.

The Senior Scholar-Athlete Award is presented to the male and female senior student-athletes with the highest cumulative grade points average after the fall semester of the academic year - in this case, at the end of the Fall 2023 semester. Recipients must have completed two seasons in a single sport to be considered for the award.

The President's Cup is presented annually to the team with the highest average cumulative grade point average at the end of the fall semester for that academic year. The President's Cup for men's athletics was awarded to Men's Snowsports who posted a team GPA of 3.204. This is the second consecutive year that the men's snowsports team have received the Male President's Cup. The President's Cup for women's athletics was awarded to the Women's basketball team after posting a 3.614 team GPA.
