Women’s Track and Field Shines at Colby Mini Meet

WATERVILLE, Maine - The University of Maine at Farmington women's track and field team had several strong performances this evening at the Colby Mini Meet. The meet consisted of Farmington, Colby, and Thomas College and was just select events.

The events that the meet covered included the 60 meters, 200 meters, 1,000 meters, 3,000 meters, long jump, and weight throw.

In the 60 meter dash, Farmington had five of the top six finishers, dominating the field. Erica Johnson (Nobleboro, Maine) placed first overall with a time of 8.16 seconds. Finishing just behind Johnson was Carrie Burr (Pittsfield, Maine) who raced to a time of 8.19 seconds. Kennedy Todd (Scarborough, Maine), Cara Perry (Stoughton, Mass.) and Hannah Milliken (Greene, Maine) placed fourth thru sixth respectively. Todd finished with a time of 8.64 seconds, Perry with a time of 8.69, and Milliken posted a 9.49 second time.

Farmington had the top three finishers in the 200 meters. Anna MacDonald (Bangor, Maine) won the event, racing to a time of 30.60 seconds. Behind MacDonald in second place was Lina Maritinez Nocito who raced to a time of 31.10 seconds. Eve Poteet (Fair Hill, Maryland) finished in third place, posting a time of 32.85 seconds.

In the 1,000 meters, Monica Lewis (Windham, Maine) and Abby MacDonald (Bangor, Maine) placed third and fourth overall. Lewis raced to a time of 4:01.63 in her third place effort while MacDonald posted a time of 4:06.27 to finish fourth.

Kaitlyn Harmon-Bolding (Biddeford, Maine) topped the field in the weight throw. Harmon-Bolding's best attempt was measured at 12.42 meters to top the field by 0.76 meters. Milliken placed tenth overall in the event with her best attempt measured at 3.99 meters.

Farmington did not have anyone compete in the 3,000 meters or the long jump.

The Beavers return to action on Saturday in the women's portion of the Harvard Invitational in Boston, Massachusetts.
