FARMINGTON, Maine – Senior Carrie Burr (Pittsfield, Maine) continued her storybook season this weekend at the New England Championships hosted by the Coast Guard Academy. Competing in the heptathlon across the two-day event, Burr placed fourth overall with 3,922 points, earning All-New England honors.
As part of the heptathlon, Burr raced to a blazing time of 26.12 seconds in the 200 meters, breaking her own program record by eight-tenths of a second. Her fourth-place finish earned five points for the Beavers.
Senior Anna MacDonald (Bangor, Maine) and junior Eve Poteet (Fairhill, Maryland) also competed individually over the weekend. MacDonald raced in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, placing 20th overall with a time of 12:29.93. Poteet ran a 42:03.84 in the 10,000 meters to finish 25th overall.
The Beavers also fielded two relay squads in the 4x100 and 4x400-meter events. Farmington's 4x400-meter relay team of Cara Perry (Stoughton, Mass.), Kennedy Todd (Scarborough, Maine), Lina Martinez Nocito (Mt. Vernon, Maine), and MacDonald clocked a time of 4:24.44, setting a new program record and placing 18th overall.
In the 4x100-meter relay, the team of Perry, Emma Syphers (Bangor, Maine), Todd, and Erica Johnson posted a time of 52.15 seconds to place 24th overall.
