Beavers Fall to Thomas in Final Home Game

FARMINGTON, Maine - The University of Maine at Farmington field hockey team fell 3-1 to Thomas College in the Central Maine Collegiate Field Hockey Conference (CMCFHC) play on Saturday afternoon at Prescott Field. The teams battled back and forth throughout the game.
 
The Records:
 
With the loss, Farmington moves to 3-12 overall, while Thomas improves to 11-5.
 
How It Happened:
 
Thomas jumped ahead early in the first quarter when Maci Freeman opened the scoring in the third minute, rocketing an assist from Kara Richards into the cage to make it 1-0. It wasn't until the third quarter that the Terriers were able to find the back of the net. Kara Richards finished off a penalty-corner sequence set up by Maci Freeman and Tatiana Roque making the game 2-0. 
 
With junior Autumn Freeman sitting for a green card, the Beavers were down a man when the Terriers scored their second goal. But that didn't slow them down, less than 20 seconds later, man-down, the Beavers exploded off the Center Pass. Izzy Derosby (Waterville, Maine) was able to find the back of the Thomas cage making the game 2-1. Izzy scored her first collegiate goal off an assist from Gabby Vincentsen (Bristol, Maine).
 
The Terriers continued to apply pressure throughout the game, their last goal from Kara Richards having a penalty kick goal in the 47th minute. The Beavers fought to the end with Autumn Freeman (Bryon, Maine) and Gabby Vincentsen both having a shot in the fourth quarter.

Ella Grant (Sturbridge, Mass.) made three saves while facing six shots on goal for the Beavers. Eliya Drummond earned the win for Thomas College with four saves on five shots faced.
