CASTLETON, Vermont – The University of Maine at Farmington women's soccer team lost to VTSU- Castleton on Sunday afternoon at Dave Wolk Stadium. The Beavers battled hard throughout the match but were unable to find the back of the net against the attacking force that is the Castleton team.

The Records:

With the loss, Farmington moves to 8-7-2 overall, while Castleton moves to 8-10.

How It Happened:
Farmington battled under severe defensive pressure in a 3–0 loss to Vermont, a match in which the Beavers were forced to defend for nearly the full 90 as Castleton produced a 28–3 shot advantage and generated 10 corner kicks.

Castleton came out strong with 19 shots in the first half and broke through before halftime, Castleton goal scored by Maggie McKearin. Less than ten minutes later, Castleton player Emma Patrissi scored a goal making it 2-0 going into the second half. Paige Gonya (Sabbatus, Maine) showed up with a ten save performance with five in each half. Gonya was able to delay the match from getting away earlier and to steady the back line under constant service.

UMF found limited attacking windows, registering three total shots with two on target, both coming after halftime as the Beavers finally earned territory and two corners of their own. Both Sadie Pierce (China, Maine) and Makenzie Rushlow (Corinth, Maine) finished with the shots on goal. Castleton's back four denied second actions and eliminated the Beavers' attempts to find the back of the net.

Farmington defended structurally for long stretches, but Castleton's shot volume and restart pressure eventually produced the separation on the scoreboard. The Beavers hope to bounce back for NAC Conference play.
