Beavers Run to an 18th Place Finish at the NCAA East Regional Championship

HOPKINTON, N.H.The University of Maine at Farmington men's cross country team placed 18th overall on Saturday afternoon, marking the end of their 2025 season. The five scoring Beavers tallied 509 points and finished with an average time of 27:47 across the 8k at Hopkinton Fairgrounds.

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology was crowned the East Region champion, narrowly edging out Tufts University. Paulino Guevara Mateo of Fitchburg State won the individual title, finishing the race in 24:31.6.


Beaver Runners:


Farmington was led on Saturday by the duo of Andrew LaFlamme (Nashua, N.H.) and James Riley (Shrewsbury, Mass.). LaFlamme and Riley finished just five seconds apart in 62nd and 65th place, respectively. LaFlamme posted a time of 26:28.1, while Riley, racing in his final collegiate meet, finished in 26:33.3.


Sophomore Alexander Gagnon (Goffstown, N.H.) had his best race of the season, placing 77th overall and crossing the finish line in 26:59.2, a new personal record for an 8k. Gagnon averaged 5:25.7 per mile.


The fourth Beaver to finish was sophomore Samuel Perkins (Jay, Maine), who placed 122nd overall out of the 216 runners. Perkins posted a time of 27:52.8, averaging 5:36.5 per mile.


Junior Joe Burgess (New Gloucester, Maine) rounded out the scoring five, placing 192nd overall. Burgess finished in 31:06.1, averaging 6:15.4 per mile.
