BRUNSWICK, Maine – The University of Maine at Farmington women's track and field team finished in seventh place at the Maine State Championships, held at Bowdoin College. Farmington, along with Bowdoin, Bates College, Colby College, the University of Southern Maine, Thomas College, and Husson University, competed in the championship event.

Top Beaver Performances:

Sophomore Lina Martinez Nocito (Mt. Vernon, Maine) set a program record with a time of 3:11.53 in the 1,000 meters, finishing fourth overall in the event and earning five points for the Beavers.

Senior Carrie Burr (Pittsfield, Maine) and junior Erica Johnson (Nobleboro, Maine) narrowly missed qualifying for the final heat in the 60 meters. Burr placed 11th in the prelims with a time of 8.18 seconds, while Johnson finished 13th with a time of 8.26 seconds. The top eight advanced to the finals, with the 8th place runner posting a time of 8.08 seconds. Johnson also earned an eighth-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles, recording a time of 9.78 seconds, just 0.01 seconds behind the seventh-place finisher.

In a highly competitive field, senior Anna MacDonald (Bangor, Maine) placed tenth overall in the 800 meters with a time of 2:35.04, missing out on scoring by less than two seconds. Eve Poteet (Fairhill, Maryland) also placed tenth in the mile, finishing with a time of 5:48.09.

In the relays, the 4x200 meter relay team of Cara Perry (Stoughton, Mass.), Kennedy Todd (Scarborough, Maine), Emma Syphers (Bangor, Maine), and MacDonald finished fifth overall with a time of 1:56.51. The 4x800 meter relay team of MacDonald, Martinez Nocito, Poteet, and Burr finished less than a second off the program record, posting a time of 10:38.39 to place fourth overall.
