Women’s Track and Field Takes 9th at Maine State Championships

WATERVILLE, Maine - The University of Maine at Farmington women's track and field team grabbed ninth place at the two-day Maine State Championship event hosted by Colby College. The team tallied 15 points in their ninth place effort.

Top Beaver Performances:

First-year Emma Syphers (Bangor, Maine) had a standout performance on Saturday for the Beavers, delivering a fourth place finish in the long jump. Syphers reached 4.97 meters with her best attempt, setting a new program record.

Kennedy Todd (Scarborough, Maine) finished with a time of 28.38 seconds in the 200 meters, earning sixth place in the event. Todd scored three points with the finish.

Sophomore Lina Martinez Nocito (Mt. Vernon, Maine) narrowly missed on scoring in the 800 meters, placing ninth in the event, just a second outside of the top-eight. Martinez Nocito finished in 2:28.21.

In the 100 meter hurdles, junior Erica Johsnon finished with a strong time of 17.60 seconds to place eighth overall.

Farmington's 4x100 meter relay team of Cara Perry (Stoughton, Mass.), Carrie Burr (Pittsfield, Maine), Todd, and Johnson posted a time of 51.81 seconds, earning sixth place and picking up three points in the process.

Burr, Anna MacDonald (Bangor, Maine), Martinez Nocito, and Perry made up the Beavers' 4x400 meter relay team that added another sixth place finish, posting a time of 4:29.62.

UP NEXT

Today's meet marked the end of the regular season for the Beavers, with next Saturday being the North Atlantic Conference Championship. The meet is to be held at Colby College.
