Huskies Overpower Beavers in Lopsided Victory

GORHAM, Maine – The University of Maine at Farmington baseball team struggled offensively and defensively on Thursday afternoon, falling decisively to the University of Southern Maine by a final score of 21–0.


How it Happened:

The Huskies jumped out to an early lead with a three-run first inning, highlighted by a two-run homer from Kyle Douin. Southern Maine continued to add on in the second, scoring three more runs off RBI hits from Douin and Jack LeBlond to make it 6–0.

In the third inning, the Huskies broke the game open with five additional runs, capitalizing on three UMF errors. Douin added a triple, while aggressive baserunning and timely hits stretched the lead to 11–0.

UMF's bats remained quiet throughout, managing just two hits in the game. Southern Maine tacked on a run in the fifth and exploded again in the eighth, scoring nine more runs, including a grand slam by Mike Anquillar to cap off the scoring at 21–0.

Stats of the Game:

Southern Maine broke out offensively, collecting 15 hits compared to Farmington's two. UMF struggled defensively with four errors, while the Huskies remained error-free.

Southern Maine's pitching staff was nearly untouchable, combining for a three-hit shutout with 15 strikeouts and no earned runs over nine innings. Carson Black earned the win, while Colin McDonald, Kyle Skolfield, and four others each delivered scoreless relief appearances. The Huskies kept UMF off balance all game, allowing just three baserunners beyond first.
