Women’s Track and Field Performs Well at Springfield, Earns 5th Place

SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts – The University of Maine at Farmington women's track and field team performed well at Sunday's Springfield Outdoor Invite, placing fifth overall with 47 points.

The host team topped the field with 251 points—more than 75 points ahead of any other school.

Top Beaver Performances:

The Beavers were led by Lina Martinez Nocito (Mt. Vernon, Maine), Anna MacDonald (Bangor, Maine), and Eve Poteet (Fair Hill, Maryland), all of whom finished in the top five of the 5,000 meters, combining to score 18 points. Martinez Nocito placed second overall with a time of 19:33.76, the second-fastest 5K time in program history. MacDonald finished just under two seconds behind, placing third with a time of 19:35.39—the fourth-fastest in program history. Poteet finished fifth with a time of 19:47.50, the fifth-fastest in school history.

Senior Cara Perry (Stoughton, Mass.) earned a seventh-place finish in the 100-meter dash, qualifying for the finals and clocking in at 13.64 seconds. Carrie Burr (Pittsfield, Maine) was seeded fourth in the 100-meter preliminaries with a time of 13.06 seconds but did not compete in the final.

Burr also placed fifth in the 400 meters, finishing in 1:04.43—the second-fastest time in program history.

Erica Johnson (Nobleboro, Maine) scored five points and placed fourth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 18.41 seconds. Burr ran well in the 100-meter hurdles preliminaries, posting a time of 18.16 seconds, but did not compete in the finals.

Johnson also secured a third-place finish in the triple jump, with her best attempt measured at 10.39 meters. She earned 11 individual points on the day. Emma Syphers (Bangor, Maine) also scored in the triple jump, reaching 9.62 meters on her best attempt.

The 4x100-meter relay team—Perry, Syphers, Kennedy Todd (Scarborough, Maine), and Johnson—ran the second-fastest time in program history, finishing in 51.90 seconds to place second and score eight points for the team.

Kaitlyn Harmon-Bolding (Biddeford, Maine) placed eighth in the discus with a best throw of 29.30 meters. She also scored in the hammer throw, placing seventh with a mark of 34.22 meters.

Sophomore Hannah Milliken (Greene, Maine) finished inside the top ten, earning ninth place in the javelin with a best throw of 23.22 meters.

UP NEXT

The Beavers return to action next Friday at both the Monks Invitational and the Silfen Invitational, with athletes competing at both locations.
