Trussell Sets 110 Meter Hurdle Record, Vachon Places 4th in Long Jump at MIT Last Chance Qualifier

CAMBRIDGE, Massachusetts - A pair of University of Maine at Farmington men's track and field athletes, Nate Trussell (Berwick, Maine) and Ben Vachon (Portland, Maine), headed down to Massachusetts Institute of Technology this afternoon to compete in the MIT Last Chance Qualifier as they attempted to make a last second bid into the NCAA Division III National Championships.

Trussell aimed to make a bid to the National Championships in the 110 meter hurdles. The junior set the program record in the event, racing to a time of 15.01 seconds, placing ninth overall in the event. Despite the strong performance, Trussell did not hit the qualification to punch his ticket to the National Championships.

Vachon competed today in the long jump. The senior closed out his career on a high note, reaching 6.75 meters with his furthest attempt, placing fourth overall in the event. Vachon also came up short of the standard needed to punch a ticket to the National Championships.

Today's meet signals the end of the 2025 track and field season for the Beavers.
