UMF Snaps Losing Streak in Split With Husson

BANGOR, Maine – The University of Maine at Farmington baseball team wrapped up its 2025 campaign with a split against North Atlantic Conference (NAC) rival Husson University on Sunday afternoon at the Winkin Complex. The Beavers captured game one in thrilling fashion, 6-5, before dropping the finale, 12-0.

Game 1 – UMF 6, Husson 5

Husson opened the scoring in the top of the second inning as Akira Warren tripled to left-center, plating Keegan Cyr for an early 1-0 lead.

The Beavers quickly responded with a crucial three-run bottom half of the second. UMF took advantage of Husson's struggles on the mound, scoring on consecutive bases-loaded walks issued to Cal Tibbitts (Bath, Maine) and Greyson Bell (Las Vegas, Nevada). Ike Wrigley (Farmington, Maine) capped off the rally with a sacrifice fly to put UMF ahead, 3-1.

In the fifth, Husson tied the game behind Henry Lausier's triple, scoring Jackson Curtis, and a sacrifice fly brought Lausier across home plate. The Eagles briefly took the lead in the sixth when Tanner Evans singled home Colin Marshall.

UMF countered decisively in the bottom of the sixth inning, capitalizing on three critical Husson errors. The pivotal play came when Eagles pitcher Cam Rendell sailed an errant throw over first baseman Jackson Curtis on Bell's swinging bunt, igniting three-runs to score to reclaim the lead for good.

Jameson Bloch (Attleboro, Mass.) earned the no-decision, giving the Beavers a shot to win. Lucas Tuttle (Framingham, Mass.) earned the win in relief, improving to 4-1 on the season after tossing three strong innings. Logan Holcomb (Hebron, Conn.) secured his second save, recording the game's final out. Henry Lausier paced the Husson offense with three hits, including a triple and a home run, and two RBIs.

The victory marked UMF's first win over Husson since 2019, snapping a 21-game losing streak to the Eagles.

Game 2 – Husson 12, UMF 0

In the second game, Husson took immediate control, building a 5-0 lead in the second inning and never relenting. The Eagles continued to extend their advantage, adding two more runs in the fifth inning before breaking it open with five runs in the seventh.

A notable lineup adjustment featured right-handed pitcher T.J. Dorn (Westbrook, Maine) behind the plate for the Beavers. Having only one at-bat in his career prior to today, Dorn contributed offensively, going one-for-two at the plate, highlighted by a check-swing single that dropped in behind first baseman Jackson Curtis.

UMF collected five hits in game two, including a triple from Sam Peterson (South Berwick, Maine), but couldn't produce timely hits with runners on base. Tanner Evans powered Husson's offense with three RBIs and a triple, while Matt Holmes added two RBIs and another triple.

Chris Albert (Bradley, Maine) (1-6) was charged with the loss for UMF, while Husson's Jack Lano picked up the victory. Despite the defeat, Lucas Tuttle set a new UMF single-season record for pitching appearances, finishing the year with 23.

The Beavers finish the 2025 season with a 10-26 overall record, including a 4-13 mark in NAC play.
