FARMINGTON, Maine - On Tuesday afternoon, a trio of University of Maine at Farmington women's cross country and track & field student-athletes were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team, the organization announced. Carrie Burr (Pittsfield, Maine), Abby MacDonald (Bangor, Maine), and Anna MacDonald (Bangor, Maine) each received the prestigious recognition.
In order for cross country and track & field student-athletes to be named to the Academic All-District Team, athletes must have finished inside the top 50 of their Regional Cross Country Championship or be ranked inside the regional top 50 of a particular event during either the indoor or outdoor track and field season, while also having accumulated a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher. Athletes must be of sophomore status, both academically and athletically, in order to be considered for the recognition.
Burr finished inside the top 50 of the East Region for outdoor track & field in six different events while also finishing inside the top 50 for indoor track in an additional six, cementing herself as one of the top track & field athletes to compete at UMF.

Burr graduated this past May with a degree in Health Promotion and Wellness. This honor for Burr is the second in as many years.
A sophomore, Abby MacDonald finds herself on the CSC Academic All-District Team for the first time in her collegiate career. MacDonald raced to a time of 14:05.35 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the 2025 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championship, good for 45th in the NCAA Division III East Region. MacDonald placed fifth overall in the event, scoring two big points to help the Beavers to their first NAC Championship in program history.
MacDonald is an Elementary Education major on track to graduate in the spring of 2027.
Anna MacDonald, fresh off being named a finalist for the NAC Woman of the Year, adds being named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team to her decorated résumé for the third consecutive season. A standout in both cross country and track & field, MacDonald finished the season ranked 19th overall in the East Region for the 3,000-meter steeplechase. The program record holder in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, MacDonald set the record twice throughout the outdoor season, with her best finish being at the NAC Outdoor Track & Field Championship, posting a time of 12:08.70 to place second overall in the event.
MacDonald also registered a top 50 performance during the indoor season, ranking 50th overall in the 5,000 meters after racing to a time of 20:09.61 at the USM Alumni Open.
MacDonald achieved her Bachelor's Degree in Special Education following the 2024 Fall semester. Simultaneously taking graduate level courses, MacDonald graduated this past May with a Master's Degree in Education.
The 2025 Academic All-District® Women's Track & Field teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the track, in the field, and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes women's track& field honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced July 15, 2025.
