BRIDGTON, Maine - Seniors Lance Dolan (Coplin Plantation, Maine) and Sam Roy (Frenchville, Maine) earned spots atop the podium on Saturday to help lead the Beavers to a first-place team finish in frigid temperatures at Pleasant Mountain in a Reynolds Division giant slalom event.
Individually, Jack AbuHaider of Colby College topped the leaderboard, finishing with a time of 1:14.78.
Beaver Skiers:
Dolan delivered a pair of standout runs en route to a second-place finish, earning his second medal of the early season. Dolan finished his first run in 36.97 seconds and was sitting in first place heading into his second run. He posted a time of 38.20 seconds in run two, the fourth-fastest time of the second run. Overall, Dolan combined for a total time of 1:15.17 in his runner-up finish.
Roy finished just four hundredths of a second behind Dolan, posting a combined time of 1:15.21 to earn a third-place, bronze-medal finish. Roy finished his first run in 37.35 seconds and his second run in 37.86 seconds. Roy recorded the second-fastest times in both the first and second runs.
First-year Magnus Riggs (Fletcher, Vt.) was the third Beaver to contribute to the team's overall placement. Riggs finished sixth overall, posting a pair of solid runs and combining for a total time of 1:16.14. Riggs completed his first run in 37.59 seconds and his second in 38.55 seconds.
Dolan, Roy, and Riggs combined for a total time of 3:46.52 to lead the Beavers to a first-place team finish.
