Farmington Starts Quick, Never Looks Back in Blow Out Win Over Presque Isle

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine - The University of Maine at Farmington women's basketball team opened the game on an 11-0 run, mounting an early lead and never looking back, coasting to an 88-42 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) road victory over the University of Maine at Presque Isle.

The Records:

Farmington got back into the win column, moving to 13-5 overall and 11-2 in NAC action. Presque Isle dropped to 2-16 overall and 1-12 in NAC play after the loss.

How it Happened:

Sophomore guard Jaydn Pingree (Jay, Maine) had it going early, scoring six of Farmington's first 11 points as well as 13 straight Beaver points in the first quarter. Pingree was ultra-efficient in the opening frame, shooting 7-for-8 from the floor and helping the Beavers jump out to a 27-8 advantage after the first ten minutes.

A Kytana Williamson (Nobleboro, Maine) three-pointer in the closing seconds of the first quarter ignited an extended 20-0 run that carried into the early minutes of the second quarter as the Beavers looked to put the game away early. Junior forward Jessica Dow (Saco, Maine) took over the lead scorer role during the second-quarter run, scoring ten points, including a pair of three-point plays.

Farmington used its defense to take complete control of the game. During the first 20 minutes of play, the Beavers forced 23 Owl turnovers and converted them into 39 points on the other end, taking a commanding 58-15 lead into halftime.

Farmington continued to roll in the second half as its lead swelled to as much as 50 points by the end of the third quarter. The Owls were unable to trim the deficit below 40 in the fourth quarter, and the Beavers cruised to the victory.

Farmington received production in multiple ways from up and down the roster. Of the Beavers' 88 points, 34 came off the bench. Farmington also totaled 50 points off turnovers, 34 fast-break points, and 54 points in the paint.

Everyone who was healthy played at least ten minutes, and all but three players registered at least one field goal.
