Early Penalty Kick Proves to Be Decisive as Beavers Fall to Husson

FARMINGTON, Maine - The University of Maine at Farmington men's soccer team fell to Husson University, 1-0, in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action on Saturday afternoon at Leib Field. Husson converted on an early penalty kick and staved off the Beavers down the stretch to secure the victory.

Farmington moved to 2-8-1 overall and 1-3-0 in NAC play following the loss while Husson improved to 3-3-2 overall and 2-0-0 in conference action.

How it Happened:

The Eagles broke through in the 13th minute as they were awarded a penalty kick after a fould in the box. Soucre converted the opportunity to give Husson a 1-0 advantage.

Farmington looked to respond later in the opening half, earning three corner kicks during a five-minute stretch. In the 27th minute, Jack Luciano's (Gorham, Maine) header was kept out by a defensive save from Husson's Adne Glotheim. The opportunity marked the Beavers best scoring chance of the game.

The Beavers continued to battle throughout the remainder of the opening half, with Reed Pambianco (Blue Hill, Maine) putting a shot off a free kick high in the 40th minute, but Husson carried its 1-0 lead into halftime.
