Women's Soccer Drops NAC Battle at Home to Husson

FARMINGTON, Maine — The University of Maine at Farmington women's soccer team fell to Husson University, 6-0, in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action on Saturday afternoon at Leib Field. Husson scored three in each half to top the Beavers.

The Records

Farmington moved to 0-9-1 overall and 0-3-0 in NAC play following the loss, while Husson improved to 4-3-2 overall and 2-1-0 in conference action.

How it Happened

 
The Eagles broke through in the 15th minute when Olivia Charles scored off an assist from Thea Gerfen to give Husson a 1-0 advantage. Gerfen hit the crossbar moments later as Husson continued to put the pressure on the Farmington defense. Charles struck again in the 17th minute for her second goal of the match, depositing a shot into the side netting to extend the Eagles' lead to 2-0.

Husson pushed its margin right before the intermission as Eilidh Irons scored an unassisted goal in the 45th minute to send the Eagles into halftime up 3-0.


The Eagles maintained its momentum early in the second half, with Hailey Tarbox scooped up a loose ball in the box and found the back of the net in the 52nd minute to make it 4-0.


Husson continued to attack as Paige Dunn added an unassisted strike in the 66th minute to bring the
score to 5-0.


The Beavers generated their best scoring chance late in the 88th minute when Hannah Milliken (Greene, Maine) put a header on goal, but Husson goalkeeper Lauryn Smart made the save to keep Farmington off the board. Madison Stewart added a final goal for Husson in the 89th minute to cap off the 6-0 win.

The Goalkeepers
 
Roo Sawyer (Londonderry, N.H.) made 15 saves over 90 minutes while allowing six goals for Farmington. Gabriella Smith started and played 79:27 in net for Husson, while Lauryn Smart stopped one shot across the final 10:33 as the duo combined for the shutout.

The Beavers will be back on the road on Tuesday evening at 7:00 PM when they take on Salem State.
