FARMINGTON, Maine - Fresh off leading the University of Maine at Farmington women's basketball team to a berth in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) championship, junior standout Jessica Dow (Saco, Maine) was named to the D3Hoops Team of the Week, the organization announced late Monday evening.
The award is the first of Dow's career, and she becomes the first Beaver to receive the recognition since Caitlyn Laflin did so in February of 2010.
With the NAC Tournament kicking off last Thursday, Dow helped lead the third-ranked Beavers to a wire-to-wire blowout victory at home over VTSU Lyndon. In Farmington's 80-44 win, Dow completely stuffed the stat sheet and dominated on both ends of the floor. She finished with 10 points, recorded a season-high eight assists, grabbed four rebounds, and was all over the passing lanes with a game-high five steals. Dow was efficient from the floor, hitting 5-of-7 in just 27 minutes of action.
In the NAC semifinals against Husson on Sunday, Dow turned in arguably her best performance of the season, pouring in 24 points on an extremely efficient 9-of-12 shooting from the floor, hitting her lone three-point attempt, and finishing 5-of-8 from the stripe. In addition to her offensive production, Dow secured six rebounds and was once again everywhere on the defensive end, matching her season high with six steals. Dow's efforts helped push the Beavers to a 64-40 win over the second-seeded Eagles and secure their spot in this Saturday's conference championship, marking the program's first appearance in the title game since the 2019-20 season.
Overall for the week, Dow averaged 17.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 5.5 steals while shooting an astounding 73.9% from the floor.
Dow will look to lead the Beavers to their first NAC Championship and a berth in the NCAA Division III National Tournament for the first time since the 2006-07 season when they square off against Maine Maritime Academy on Saturday at 1:00 PM.
