Men's Hoops Set to Face Montclair State in Opening Round of National Tournament

FARMINGTON, Maine – The University of Maine at Farmington men's basketball team will travel to Montclair, New Jersey, on Friday to take on the 15th-ranked team in the country, Montclair State University, in the opening round of the 2026 NCAA Division III National Tournament, as announced during the NCAA Selection Show on Monday afternoon.

Montclair State earned the top seed in its pod and will also host a first-round matchup between Bates College and Yeshiva University. The first-round games will take place on Friday. Farmington and Montclair State will be the second game of the doubleheader. Tip-off for that game is set for 5:15 PM.

Montclair State, a member of the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC), finished the season with a 25-2 overall record, including a 17-1 mark in conference play. After earning the top seed in the NJAC Tournament, the Red Hawks fell in the conference championship game, 83-81, to The College of New Jersey.

The Beavers return to the National Tournament for the first time since 2010. That year, Farmington competed in a play-in game at Bridgewater State University and earned a 64-63 victory to advance to the second round. The Beavers then traveled to Williams College, where their season came to an end with an 83-64 loss.

More information about the tournament and a full preview of the matchup will be released later this week as additional details become available.
