FARMINGTON, Maine — University of Maine at Farmington sophomore guard Zach McLaughlin (Hampden, Maine) has been named Co-Player of the Week by the Maine Men's Basketball Coaches and Writers Association, marking the fifth time he has earned the honor this season.
The Beavers closed out the regular season with an 80–75 win against NAC opponent Maine Maritime Academy, where McLaughlin was the star of the show. The guard tied his career high with 35 points, fueled by his ability to shoot the long ball. He finished 7-for-12 from three-point range, setting a career high in three-pointers made. McLaughlin also added four rebounds, two assists, and a steal as the Beavers broke through the Mariners' zone defense.
McLaughlin is averaging 25.5 points per game, ranking fifth among Division III scorers. He is also averaging 3.7 rebounds, 1.1 assists, and 1.0 steal per game.
The Beavers' next game will be the NAC Semifinals, where they will host the winner of the Maine Maritime vs. SUNY Cobleskill matchup.
