WATERVILLE, Maine - University of Maine at Farmington junior center fielder Jessica Dow (Saco, Maine) was named the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Co-Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday evening, after helping lead the Beavers to a 3-1 record over the weekend.
Dow had a monster day on Saturday as the Beavers swept SUNY Delhi. In game one, Dow went 2-for-4 at the plate with a home run, a triple, three RBIs, and three runs scored. Dow's home run was a three-run shot in the bottom of the sixth inning that put Farmington ahead, 9-0, and ended the game due to the mercy rule.
In game two against the Broncos, Dow stayed hot, once again going 2-for-4 at the dish. With the Beavers trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the third, Dow belted her second home run of the day, this one a two-run shot to tie the game and spark a five-run inning that helped the Beavers pull away with an 8-2 win.
Dow recorded her second triple in as many days in game one of Sunday's doubleheader with SUNY Cobleskill. She finished 1-for-3 and scored a run as the Beavers went on to win, 8-2.
Dow finished 5-for-12 for the week with two home runs and two triples while driving in five and scoring five runs. So far this season, Dow leads the Beavers in batting average (.380), on-base percentage (.436), slugging percentage (.760), triples (3), home runs (3), and total bases (38).
Dow and the Beavers return to action on Thursday against Saint Joseph's College on the road in Standish.
