FARMINGTON, Maine – The University of Maine at Farmington Men's soccer team scored five unanswered goals and posted a shutout victory over Lesley University, 5-0, on Saturday afternoon in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action at Leib Field.
The Records:
Farmington improved to 1-6-1 overall and 1-2-0 in NAC play following the victory. Lesley fell to 1-5-1 overall and 0-2-0 in conference play.
How it Happened:
The Beavers controlled possession and generated a steady stream of scoring opportunities throughout the opening half, putting 14 shots toward the Lesley goal. Farmington finally broke through in the 40th minute when Star Boma scored his first goal of the season at 39:44, giving the Beavers a 1-0 advantage heading into halftime.
Farmington continued to apply pressure early in the second half and doubled its lead in the 53rd minute. Vishal Mellor found the back of the net at 52:20, with Jack Luciano credited with the assist, to make it a 2-0 contest.
Just over four minutes later, the Beavers struck again. Luciano scored his first goal of the season at 56:34, with Mellor providing the assist, extending the Farmington lead to 3-0.
Farmington added a fourth goal in the 70th minute when Jackson Landry converted a penalty kick at 69:20 for his second goal of the season.
The Beavers capped the scoring in the 76th minute as Maxwell Hamilton scored his first goal of the season at 75:50. JJ Greenlaw assisted on the play to make it a 5-0 game.
Farmington's defense kept Lesley off the scoreboard throughout the afternoon, limiting the visitors to six shots. The Beavers finished with a 25-6 advantage in total shots and a 14-6 edge in shots on goal.

The Goalkeepers:
Hunter Frost earned the victory in goal for the Beavers, making four saves over 83:36 of action. Dylan Gagnon played the final 6:24 and recorded one save to help preserve the shutout.
Ethan Ford made six saves for Lesley.

The Beavers return to action Sunday when they host Vermont State University Castleton at 12:00 p.m. at Leib Field. The contest is scheduled as Farmington's Morgan's Message Game.
