SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine - The University of Maine at Farmington men's cross country team opened the 2026 season with a third-place finish at Saturday evening's East Regional Preview at the Wainwright Sports Complex.
The course featured a 4.34K race, with Brandeis earning the top spot after placing its five scoring runners inside the top eight.
Beaver Runners:
The Beavers were led by first-year standout Mason Tomboni (Selma, Ind.), who placed third overall, tearing through the course with a time of 13:26.3. Tomboni finished with an average mile time of 4:58.9 and was just 4.5 seconds behind Brandeis' Hugh Licklider, who placed first.
Junior Alexander Gagnon (Goffstown, N.H.) was the second Beaver to cross the finish line, posting a time of 13:33.1 en route to a seventh-place finish. Gagnon averaged 5:01.5 per mile in his seventh-place effort.
Senior Andrew LaFlamme (Nashua, N.H.) also ran a strong race for Farmington, finishing in 13:57.7 with an average mile time of 5:09.1 on his way to a 16th-place finish.
Another first-year making his collegiate debut, Levi Riggs (Georgetown, Maine), placed 24th overall in the competitive field. Riggs finished with a total time of 14:12.3 and averaged 5:16.0 per mile.
Junior Samuel Perkins (Jay, Maine) was the fifth and final Beaver to contribute to the team's total time of 1:09:39 for the meet. Perkins placed 42nd overall with a time of 14:34.5 and an average mile time of 5:24.2.

- Ethan Linscott (Lakeville, Maine) - 70th; 15:14.8; 5:39.2 per mile
- Hans Bakke (York, Maine) - 103rd; 16:02.8; 5:57.0 per mile
- Joe Burgess (New Gloucester, Maine) - 116th; 16:10.7; 5:59.9 per mile
- Elijah Manning (Providence, R.I.) - 128th; 16:53.5; 6:15.8 per mile
- Ross Gaffney (Edgecomb, Maine) - 134th; 17:36.6; 6:31.8 per mile
