FARMINGTON, Maine - The University of Maine at Farmington women's soccer team fell to Albion College, 4-0, on Saturday afternoon in a non-conference matchup at Leib Field.
The Records:
Farmington entered the match 0-1-0, looking to bounce back following its season-opening defeat. Albion improved to 2-1-0 with the victory.
How it Happened:
Albion controlled much of the offensive pressure during the opening half, outshooting the Beavers 14-4 and earning five corner kicks.
Farmington goalkeeper Roo Sawyer (Londonderry, N.H.) was strong in net despite the pressure, making six saves during the opening 45 minutes.
The Beavers had the game's first real opportunity to score in the eighth minute. Sophomore midfielder Kyri Meak (Winslow, Maine) found herself open inside the penalty area and fired a shot from a difficult short-range angle, but Albion goalkeeper Libby Wisniewski was up to the task, turning aside Meak's point-blank attempt to keep the game scoreless.
The Britons broke through in the 21st minute when Claire Gorno found the back of the net off an assist from Brook Zeleny to give Albion a 1-0 advantage.
The game remained 1-0 heading into halftime as Albion continued to hold a heavy advantage in possession.
Albion added to its lead early in the second half when Gorno scored her second goal of the afternoon in the 55th minute off assists from Chloe Salo and Kelsi Green.
Just over three minutes later, Brook Zeleny extended the Albion advantage to 3-0 after Diane Hurtado set up the scoring opportunity.
Farmington continued to battle throughout the remainder of the contest, with Sawyer making six more saves in the second half. Albion added its final goal in the 89th minute as Ceci Irwin scored off an assist from Micaela Hohlbein, putting the final touches on the victory.

The Goalkeepers:
After making a career-high 19 saves on Tuesday, Sawyer continued to dazzle, recording 12 saves over 90 minutes of action.
Wisniewski earned the shutout for Albion, making three saves.
