WATERVILLE -- The University of Maine at Farmington men's golf team finished in second place at the Colby Classic at Waterville Country Club.
The format for the event was two-man teams of best ball (holes 1-6), scramble (7-12) and alternating shots (13-18).
Colby White was the top team with a score of 223 followed by the Beavers (227), St. Joseph's College (228), Colby Blue (238) and the University of Maine at Presque Isle (239).
The tandems of Nick Waltz (Damariscotta, Maine) and Orion Cochrane (Greenville, Maine) and Rich Matthews (Portland, Maine) and Reid Bond (Farmington, Maine) each carded a 74. Mike Lawson (Williamsburg, Maine) and Joe Messerman (Brunswick, Maine) turned in a 79.
The Beavers are scheduled to host the UMF Invitational Thursday at Sunday River Golf Club. Tee times are slated to start at 10 a.m.
