Box Score BOSTON -- In a matchup of former North Atlantic Conference counterparts, the University of Maine at Farmington women's soccer team dropped Wheelock College 7-1 today at Winsor Field.
The Beavers (2-2-1) are slated to travel to Vermont next weekend to face Green Mountain College on Sept. 25 at 3:30 p.m. and Castleton State College on Sept. 26 at 2 p.m. The Wildcats remain winless through five contests.
Seven different players tallied one goal apiece for Farmington, as freshman Kayla Tuttle (Waterville, Maine) finished with one marker and a pair of assists, including on classmate Renee Dupre's (Rehoboth, Mass.) game-winner. Beth Charles (New Vineyard, Maine), Abbey Gilbert (Wilton, Maine), Noelle Moulton (York, Maine), Leigh Ronald (Farmington, Maine) and Laura St. John (Wayne, Maine) each netted a goal.
Keneisha Milton (Boston) scored her first collegiate goal for Wheelock in her second game with the team.
Farmington broke on the board eight minutes into the contest, as Tuttle split the defense and sent a close-range shot inside the left post l. In a 2-0 game, after Tuttle assisted Dupre in the 10th minute.
The Beavers scored four times between the 25th and 48th minutes to grab a 6-1 advantage, with Wheelock's goal occurring in between. With her team down 3-0 in the 27th minute, Stephanie Isabelle (Granby, Mass.) stole the ball at the top of the visitors' penalty area before knocking a soft shot toward a rushing Farmington keeper Crystal Johnson (Cornville, Maine), who saved the try but deflected the ball to Milton for a tap-in on the doorstep.
The Beavers'Johnson and freshman Beth Lebel (Lewiston, Maine) each made one save in 45 minutes, with Johnson picking up the win.
Alexandra Chiesa (Medford, Mass.) had 23 saves for Wheelock, the second-highest total of her two-year career.
