Men's golf third at John Queenan Memorial

FARMINGTON -- The University of Maine at Farmington men's golf team placed third at St. Joseph's College's John Queenan Memorial at Point Sebago.

University of New England won the event at 320 to edge out Husson University (321), Farmington (327) and University of Southern Maine (328). The host Monks (335), Emmanuel College (366) and Daniel Webster College (384) completed the team scoring.

Husson's Chris Hamel was the top finisher at 75.

Nick Waltz (Damariscotta, Maine) paced the Beavers with a 78 followed by Rich Matthews (Portland, Maine) at 80, Orion Cochrane (Greenville, Maine) at 84, Joe Messerman (Brunswick, Maine) at 85 and Reid Bond (Farmington, Maine) at 93.

The Beavers are slated to get back on the course Sunday and Monday when they travel to Sable Oaks for the Southern Maine Fall Classic.
