SOUTH PORTLAND -- The University of Maine at Farmington men's golf team came in fourth at the two-day USM Fall Classic at Sable Oaks.
Husson University won the competition with a 329 followed by Endicott College (341) and University of New England (341). After an opening 330 Sunday, the Beavers posted a 312 on Monday for a total of 642.
Husson's Chris Hamel was the top finisher at 146 (76-70).
Nick Waltz (Damariscotta, Maine) placed third overall with a 151 (75-76), while Orion Cochrane (Greenville, Maine) at 162 (85-77) and Joe Messerman (Brunswick, Maine) at 164 (88-76) each enjoyed strong second rounds. Rich Matthews (Portland, Maine) at 170 (82-88) and Reid Bond (Farmington, Maine) at 172 (89-83) rounded out Farmington's field.
The Beavers are slated to return to Sable Oaks Friday for the USM Fall Cup.
