Women's basketball goes by Green Mountain

POULTNEY, Vt. -- University of Maine at Farmington women's basketball improved to 2-1 in the North Atlantic Conference today as the Beavers ran past Green Mountain College 74-39 this afternoon in Poultney, Vt.

The Beavers (5-7 overall, 2-1 NAC) are slated to return to Farmington to host Maine Maritime Academy on Tuesday (women at 5:30 p.m., men to follow). Farmington has won four out of its last five contests. The Eagles slipped to 2-9 (0-2).

Kenni Norton (Strong, Maine) scored 14 points to lead the Beavers in scoring with Paige Saunders (Surry, Maine) adding 12 points and Lindsay Gordon (Winslow, Maine) supplying 10 points. Saunders and Gordon's totals matched career-best outputs. Gordon also doled out five assists, while Ashley Busque (Belgrade, Maine) tallied nine points and collected four assists and a like number of steals and Katherine Gagne (Dixfield, Maine) added nine points.

Sierra Pease paced Green Mountain with 12 points, while Millicent Hopper turned in 11 points and 12 rebounds.
