Box Score HENNIKER, N.H. -- The University of Maine at Farmington women's soccer team opened a 2-0 first-half led, but New England College battled back to tie the Beavers 2-2 in North Atlantic Conference action this afternoon.
UMF (3-4-3 overall, 2-2-1 NAC) is tabbed to host Bowdoin College on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. NEC stands at 5-4-2 (1-2-1).
UMF wasted no time getting on the board as Kayla Tuttle (Waterville, Maine) put in a free kick, richocheting off the crossbar and in, putting the Beavers up 1-0. The Beavers extended their lead to 2-0 just minutes later as Alida Peake (Penobscot, Maine) converted on a free kick scoring her second goal of the season at the 12-minute mark.
NEC broke through in the 54th minute of play as senior Veronica Hytner (St. James, N.Y.) dribbled around a Beaver defender and record her fifth goal of the season.
The Pilgrims got the equalizer in the 66th minute of play as Alexandra Korchman (Newton, Conn.) netted her first collegiate goal after intercepting a clear, knotting the game at 2-2.
Neither team mustered a goal in the final 24 minutes of regulation and through two overtimes as the game would end in a 2-2 tie.
NEC finished the game outshooting the Beavers 17-13.
Seeing the bulk of the time in net for NEC was Tricia Sardagnola (Shrewsbury, Mass.), who finished with seven saves.
Splitting time in net for UMF were Beth Lebel (Lewiston, Maine), who finished with a save, and Crystal Johnson (Cornville, Maine), who stopped six Pilgrim shots.
