FARMINGTON -- The University of Maine at Farmington collected its fourth straight victory with a 73-56 win over Johnson State College in North Atlantic Conference women's basketball action today at Dearborn Gymnasium.

The Beavers evened their record at 11-11 and improved to 8-4 in the NAC. Farmington is scheduled to visit Husson University Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. The Badgers (4-19, 0-12) are slated to host Castleton State College Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

Jillian Ross (Belfast, Maine) scored 16 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead the Beavers, while Lindsay Gordon (Winslow, Maine) added 13 points, Kenni Norton (Strong, Maine) pitched in 10 points and Ashley Busque (Belgrade, Maine) made six of six free throws on her way to nine points. This was the final regular-season home game for Ross, Busque and Katherine Gagne (Dixfield, Maine).

Paige Saunders (Surry, Maine) and Norton set the defensive tone inside as Saunders swatted six shots and Norton made five blocks. The Beavers held Johnson State to 27.9 percent (17-61) from the field.

Catlyn Hughes (Canterbury, Conn.) and Amber McCullock (Morrisville, Vt.) each netted 11 points for the Badgers, while Kristine Tatro (Eden, Vt.) turned in nine points and eight rebounds.

Ross scored seven points and Busque supplied five points as Farmington opened the game with an 18-2 blitz over the first 7:33. The Beavers' lead ballooned to 32-8 with 6:34 until intermission before the hosts marched into intermission with a 41-23 advantage.

Emma Morrison (Saco, Maine) and Ross drained a 3-pointer each to start the second half as the Beavers built their lead back to 51-25 over the first 3:35 of the frame. The margin did not dip below 15 points the rest of the game as Farmington went on to the 73-56 victory.
